Fence stops chase

DEL NORTE — A high-speed chase started Sept. 7 when a Rio Grande County Deputy tried to stop a vehicle that was weaving and didn’t have its headlights on. According to Sheriff Donald McDonald, the driver of the vehicle would not stop for the deputy until it ran into a fence in Del Norte. The incident is still under investigation with the help of other agencies, he said. The only injury in the event that started about 10:30 p.m. was the fence. The driver, a white male, baled out of the vehicle and was arrested.
