Filemon “Lionel” Salazar, 66

Filemon “Lionel” Salazar, 66, of Alamosa went to be in eternal peace with the Almighty on December 8, 2017.  He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Victoria Salazar; daughter, Nina Salazar; siblings, Luisa Ulibarri, Orlando (Elizabeth) Salazar, Harold (Lillian) Salazar and Martha Salazar; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.  Lionel was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force after serving 7 years and retired after sixteen years at Wal-Mart.  He enjoyed fishing, shooting, traveling, and showed great talent working with his hands, building and fixing things.  Lionel had a keen appetite for knowledge, and loved learning about the world, especially history and science.  He had a big heart and a clever sense of humor, and most of all loved spending time with family for whom he would go to the ends of the earth.  Lionel was preceded in death by his father, Pedro Salazar; mother, Reyes Archuleta; siblings, Walter (Patty) Salazar, Alberto (Francis) Salazar, Levi Salazar, Trinquilino (Dulcinea) Salazar, Filemon (Gertrude) Salazar, and Dulcinea (Otoniel) Salazar.  Cremation has taken place and burial is to follow at a later date at Ortiz Cemetery, Colorado.  A Rosary will be held on Wednesday, December 20th at 7:00 PM and a Memorial Mass on Thursday, December 21st at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa.  A celebration in honor of his life will take place at the VFW following the Mass.
