ALAMOSA – A fire of unknown origin destroyed a lean-to storage shed and damaged two nearby homes at 316 11th Street here Wednesday morning.

Alamosa Fire Chief Don Chapman said it was apparent that the fire started in the storage shed and extended into the exterior rear walls of the two nearby homes. Cause of the fire is still under investigation, he said.

The Alamosa Fire Department was called to the scene at 8:50 a.m. and responded with four trucks and an estimated 16 firefighters. In addition, one unit with the Division of Fire Prevention and Control also responded with three firefighters.

Chapman said the home at 316 11th received some smoke damage but was still habitable. The owner of the home was not identified.
