Firefighters rescue child on playground

ALAMOSA — Alamosa firefighters responded to one of their more unusual calls Tuesday afternoon at the Alamosa Elementary K-2 playground where a little girl got stuck between some rails on playground equipment.

Alamosa Fire Chief Don Chapman said firefighters cut the rails apart with a saw to extricate the child who was scared but unhurt. The incident occurred about 3:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 5, outside the school on the playground equipment.

Alamosa firefighters later that evening responded to a fire caused by food overcooked on a stove at 616 First Street.
