First Annual ArtScape will open on June 2

ALAMOSA — The City of Alamosa will celebrate 17 sculptures created by artists from near and far on June 2 at 5:30 p.m. at the Alamosa Welcome Center. The community is encouraged to join the celebration.

The sculptures are on loan to the city for one year at different sites throughout the downtown. Locals and visitors can experience this unique sculpture walk while visiting downtown. A map with the sculpture locations can be found in the ArtScape brochure available at City Hall, Welcome Center, local businesses, and in all Certified Brochure Displays throughout the San Luis Valley.

Sculptures can be purchased by the public and 20 percent of the purchase will be reinvested in future art displays. For more information on purchasing, contact Jolene Webb at (719) 587-2509.

The ArtWalk is also occurring on June 2nd and 3rd and organizers of both events hope that the combined artistic efforts will enhance the downtown experience. The City of Alamosa would like to thank all the volunteers on the Art Committee and the artists loaning their artwork in order to make these improvements possible. For more information on the ArtWalk see Facebook at Alamosa Artwalk or email [email protected].
