Flag dedication

ALAMOSA — On Thursday, October 29th at 2:30pm there will be a dedication of the flags at Centennial Park in Alamosa on the 500 block of State Street.

The flags that will be dedicated include the Thin Blue Line, Police Remembrance, Thin Red Line, Firefighter Remembrance, EMS First Responders, and the Colorado State Flag.

The Flag Project is sponsored by Ruthie and Larry Brown, owners of the Green Spot Garden Center.  It has been a labor of love, along with the first phase, which included the United States flag, five military branch flags, and a POW flag.  With this 2nd phase, the Browns are wanting to honor the police, firefighters and first responders who risk their lives, every single day, to keep us safe.

The cost of the flags, poles and solar lights totals out at $1712.37.  Community supporters have already donated $993.00.  If you want to help support this program, the Browns will not turn down your donations.  Also, fresh dug potatoes from Rockey Farms will be available for sale at the dedication--.25 each.

The Browns ask that you use common sense and take personal responsibility in deciding whether you want to attend this dedication.  Thank you!
