AURORA — Former San Luis Valley Youth Detention Center worker Brian Vasquez, most recently a teacher at Prairie Middle School in Aurora, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of three counts of sexual assault on a child by a person of trust and five counts of sexual exploitation of a child.

The victims are believed to be students at the Aurora school.

During a press conference on Tuesday, authorities mentioned multiple times they believe there may be more victims in the case.

Authorities are asking anyone who might have information concerning Vasquez and previous sexual assault incidents to call the Crimes Against Children Tip Line at 303-739-6164.

Vasquez was a youth worker at the San Luis Valley Youth Detention Center in Alamosa from April 2004 to April 2006.

He then was a student teacher at Janitell High School in Widefield School District (7th grade geography, 8th grade U.S. history) from May to December of 2006 and substitute teacher in the Widefield School District (grades 6th-12th, all subject areas) from April to October 2007.

Vasquez was then a teacher at Mesa Ridge High School in Widefield School District 3 (9th grade geography/social studies, 10th grade world history, 11th grade U.S. history) from October 2007 to June 2009.

He then taught at Mountain vista Community school in Harrison School District 2, (7th grade geography and 8th grade U.S. history) from August 2009 to June 2011.

From October 2012 to January of this year Vasquez was a Destination Imagination Coach at Prairie Middle School and from August of 2011 to the present was a social studies teacher (7th and 8th grade) at Prairie Middle School.

Vasquez was placed on paid administrative leave by Cherry Creek School District.
