Former longtime Monte Vista resident Frances Perez, 76, passed away February 17, 2018 at her home in Albuquerque, N.M. with her loving family by her side. Frances was born January 29, 1942 in Red River, N.M., to Ruby and Edmund Barela. Frances was raised by Isebelle and Anselmo Perez. Frances was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with family and old time friends, drinking coffee at Daylight Donuts. She also loved watching the Golden Girls and listening to music.

She is survived by her son Manuel (Christi) Perez of Monte Vista, CO, daughter Juanita (Cesar) Garcia of Albuquerque, N.M., son Anthony (Alexandra) Garcia of Albuquerque, N.M., daughter-in-law Monica Jiron of Monte Vista, Co. Frances has 6 grandchildren Robert (Candice) Arnett, Janine (Matt) Jiron, Ariel (Ramiro) Fuentes, Gabrielle (Veronique) Gallegos, Alyssa (Isiah) Garcia, Anthony Garcia, Jr. 4 great grandsons. A very special family friend and caregiver Ralphilita Salazar. Brothers: Thomas, Andrew, Albert Barela. Sisters: Barbara Ellis and Diana Barela.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband Juan Garcia, parents Ruby and Edmund Barela, Isebelle and Anselmo Perez, Sisters Virginia, Sylvia, Shirley Barela, brothers Jimmy, Donnie, Eddie, Billy and Robert Barela.

Cremation was chosen and a vigil service will be held Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista, Co. Interment will follow in Albuquerque, N.M., at a later date.
