SAN LUIS — Longtime San Luis resident Francisco “Frank” Jose Medina Sr., 75, went to his eternal rest on July 10, 2020, peacefully at his home. Frank was welcomed into the world on May 1, 1945, the son of Anselmo Medina and Adelia Irene Vigil Medina.

Survived by his loving wife Rayma Medina and their 5 children Frankie Medina Jr., Norman Medina, Monica Cisneros, Matthew Medina, Michael Medina and Carlos Vialpando, 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Ann Lee Martinez of Colorado Springs, CO; Anselma Montoya CSC, CO; Kathy Maestas of San Pablo, brother Ricky Medina of San Luis, CO.

Frank was born in San Cristobal, New Mexico and grew up with his 7 siblings in san Luis. He graduated from Centennial High School in 1963. Soon thereafter he met the love of his life Ramoncita Cordova of Garcia/Jaroso and together they reared five children in Colorado Springs, CO; Frank was a city fireman for Colorado Springs and retired after 30 years while still enjoying other jobs and professions.

After the life of a civil servant and first responder, they returned to San Luis in 2000 and built his home in the Sangre De Cristo Ranches where he would spend the remainder of his life in the San Luis Valley. Frank loved Jesus, and serving the Lord and devoted countless hours to helping others within his community.

Vigil Rosary will be held on Friday, July 17, 2020, at 7:00 PM at the Romero Funeral Chapel in San Luis. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2020, at 10:00 AM at Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church in San Luis. Interment will follow at the family plot at the Sangre De Cristo Cemetery.
