Alamosa resident Francisco Ramos Avila, 81, passed away August 18, 2017 at the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center with his loving family by his side. Francisco was born on August 17, 1936 in Pino Suarez Durango, Mexico, the son of Eduviges Ramos and Maria De Los Angeles Avila. He was united in marriage to Maria Ingracia Pubela Almeda and the two shared a long, loving and happy union until her passing. Francisco worked in agriculture for many years of his life, he had a passion for farming and was a dedicated and hard worker. On his free time he enjoyed breaking in and riding horses, having barbeques and being with family and friends.

Survivors include his daughters Maria (Reynaldo Campos) De Jesus Ramos Puebla of Oakland, CA; San Juana (Alvaro) Contreras of Duran, CA; Beatrice (Alfredo) Gonzalez of Chico, CA; sons Jose (Teresa) Ramos, Juan Antonio Ramos both of Boise City, OK; Francisco Javier (Luz Maria) Ramos of Herford, TX; Manuel Ramos, Gregorio Ramos and Alonzo (Victoria) Ramos all of Guadalupe Victoria Durango, MX;  numerous grand and great-grandchildren, sisters Anita Ramos of Torion Coahuila, MX; Alisia Ramos of Chicago, IL; Angelica Ramos of Guadalupe Victoria Durango, MX; Maria Ramos of Atlanta, GA and one brother Manuel Ramos of Dallas, TX. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Francisco was preceded in death by his parents Eduviges and Maria Ramos Avila and several brothers and sisters.

A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 7:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 10:00 AM also at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Alamosa Cemetery. The care of arrangements have been entrusted to Romero Funeral Home of Alamosa.
