Frank John Herrera, 93

Monte Vista resident Frank John Herrera, 93, passed away May 6, 2017 at the Agape Hospice Center in Denver. Frank was welcomed into the world on June 11, 1923 in Valdez, New Mexico, the beloved son of Emilio Herrera and Locaida Prando Herrera. Frank was a hardworking husband, father, step-father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who enjoyed going fishing, camping, hunting, watching basketball, hauling wood, doing yard work and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife Lucinda Herrera of Monte Vista, CO; daughters Locaida (Juan) Herrera of Richmond, VA; Sandra Herrera of Oklahoma City, OK; Lorraine (Clemente) Moreno of Monte Vista, CO; Gloria (Lucas) Cordova of Arroyo Seco, NM; sons Frank R. Herrera of Coffeeville, KS; Raynaldo Herrera of Las Animas, CO; John (Tanya) Herrera, step-son Tomas (Cathy) Valencia of Monte Vista, CO; 28 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; brothers Joe (Janell) Hererra of Trinidad, CO; Moises Herrera of Bloomfield, NM; Wesley Herrera of Bloomfield, NM.  He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents Emilio and Locaida Herrera, son Ernest Herrera, sister Angelina Martinez, brothers Charlie Herrera, Eddie Herrera, Emilio Herrera, sister-in-law Twila Herrera and half brothers Leonel Trujillo, Moises Trujillo.

A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 7:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 10:00 AM also at St. Joseph Church. Interment will follow at the San Luis Valley Cemetery. Viewing and visitation will be held on Thursday from 1-5 PM at the Romero Funeral Chapel in Monte Vista. The care of arrangements have been trusted to Romero Funeral Home of Monte Vista.
