Friday Health issues statement

ALAMOSA — In response to an invitation for an interview with the Valley Courier and Friday Health Plans CEO Beth Bierbower, the company issued this statement attributable only to a "spokesperson," at the company.

“Friday Health Plans remains committed to its mission of providing simple, high-quality, affordable, and easy-to-use insurance. We have grown incredibly quickly — which is a testament to the strength of our offering — and are currently working with our regulators to optimize our operations and create a solid foundation for Friday’s long-term success in Colorado and beyond. As the Colorado Insurance Division Director recently confirmed, our Colorado operation is well capitalized. Our exceptional, hard-working team remains focused on ensuring our Colorado members are getting the most out of the comprehensive, differentiated plans we offer.”

Friday Health had grown quickly from about 8,000 members when Melody Health Insurance acquired Alamosa-based Colorado Choice Plans in 2017, and changed its name to Friday Health Plans to a peak of over 300,000 members. When the company ceased operations in Texas last year, it lost about 75% of its members. Last month the Texas Department of Insurance seized Friday Health in the Lone Star state and began its liquidation.

At press time, Vince Plymell with the Colorado Division confirmed Friday Health Plans is in good standing with the division.
