ALAMOSA —With open enrollment for health insurance now underway, local Alamosa company Friday Health Plans of Colorado continues to offer fully accredited individual, group, Medicare and CHP+ plans for people in the San Luis Valley and surrounding counties. Formerly known as Colorado Choice Health Plans, the company builds on 45 years of history in the Valley and covers more than 15,000 people throughout Colorado.

The open enrollment period for 2019 coverage started November 1st and runs through January 15th, 2019.  For Valley residents who purchase their own health insurance, it is important to sign up by December 15th to ensure that coverage starts on January 1st, 2019.

The company employs more than 50 people in its Alamosa Main Street office and is fully committed to the area with potential expansion plans. Last year Friday Health Plans contributed $1 million to the San Luis Valley Health Foundation, which helped create the new San Luis Valley Cancer Center.

Valley residents can find health insurance options on the Colorado insurance marketplace--Connect for Health Colorado--through an insurance broker, or directly from Friday Health Plans. For those who qualify, financial assistance is available through Connect for Health Colorado to reduce monthly premium costs. These tax credits are based on household size, income and several other factors. For example, a family of four making less than $97,000 may qualify.
