George Fredrick Gallegos, 84

Romeo resident George Fredrick Gallegos, 84, passed away March 4, 2018 at his home with his loving family right by his side. George was born on February 15, 1934 in Antonito, Colorado, the son of Rudolph Gallegos and Anna Lucero Gallegos. George spent many years of his life being a hard and devoted rancher, his passion and attention to detail when it came to his work was remarkable. George was a loving and exceptional husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who enjoyed riding horses, four wheeling, working with his cows, going hunting and camping, and spending as much time as he could with his children, grandchildren, family and friends.

Survivors include his children Ronald (Diane) Gallegos of Longmont, CO; Greg Gallegos of Cherry Creek, CO; Glenda (Ron) Martinez of Monte Vista, CO; Geraldine DeHerrera (Antonio Apodaca) of Romeo, CO, Guy Gallegos of Palm Springs, CA Gary (Elsa) Gallegos of Broomfield, CO; Gale Swafford (Albert Gonzales) of Romeo, CO; grandchildren Stephanie Medina, Milo Medina, Jeremy DeHerrera, Tabetha Kehr, Brad Sawfford, Philip Gallegos, Anna Gallegos, Andrew Gallegos, Jon Quintana, Sara Quintana, Jacque Sandoval, great-grandchildren Bailee Medina, JR Medina, Kenzie Medina, Kiara Quintana, Julianna Mendez, Gabriella Montoya, Areana DeHerrera, Santiago DeHerrera, Janessa DeHerrera, Antonio DeHerrera, sister Cora Proffit of Roanoke, VA; and brother Rudolph (Patricia) Gallegos of Antonito, CO. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

George was preceded in death by his parents Rudolph and Anna Gallegos, wife Virginia Gallegos, sisters Isabelle Mondragon, Sofia Garcia, Victoria Vigil and one brother Chris Gallegos.

Cremation was chosen. A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 6:30 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Conejos. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 11:00 AM also at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow at the La Jara Cemetery. The care of arrangements have been trusted and placed in care of Romero Funeral Home of Antonito.
