Gingerbomb coming to SLV

ALAMOSA — Thursday, August 9th, please join Society Hall, 400 Ross Avenue, Alamosa for the Wildfire Tour of the Denver-based band, Gingerbomb.  The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with the show beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets for this event are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.  Tickets may be purchased online at www.societyhall.org, or at The Green Spot, 711 State Ave., Alamosa.

From the boroughs of New York City, to the shores of Los Angeles County, gingers are often seen as a scarce commodity. However, against all odds, seasoned musicians Megan Burtt, Sara Dee, Zach Berkman, Casey Sidwell, and Ryan Vaughn miraculously united to form the world’s first all ginger-based Americana supergroup: Gingerbomb.

Megan Burtt caught our attention last year when she opened at Society Hall for Jeffery Foucault.  Megan was born and bred in Denver. “I’ve always written songs,” she says. “I took piano lessons when I was young, but when I picked up my dad’s old classical guitar, things took off.”

Inspired by Joni Mitchell’s Blue, Burtt taught herself to play, dreaming of a musical career. “I didn’t know any girls who played music, but Blue, Bonnie Raitt’s Nick of Time and the women on the MTV videos I saw, let me know it was possible.”

Well fast-forward a year, and Megan is working with Sara, Zach, Casey and Ryan to form Gingerbomb with a new single, “Wildfire”.  Their music has been described as the Wood Brothers meeting Fleetwood Mac, albeit let’s not take things too seriously! A full album is in the works for Gingerbomb and my guess is that we will hear many of the songs that they have written for the album.
