Monte Vista/Center resident Gloria N. Mondragon 89, went to be with the Lord on July 8, 2021, under Hospice care. Gloria was welcomed into the world on March 10, 1932, in Saguache Colorado. She was the beloved daughter of Celestino and Josephine Salaz.

Gloria enjoyed bowling, arrowhead hunting, fly fishing, sewing, embroidering, Bingo, and working on crossword puzzles. When her mom passed away, Gloria took care of her three siblings and a nephew, along with her six kids and one stepchild. She treated everyone as if they were all her children.

Gloria will continue to live through her daughters; Josephine “Josie” (Richard) Sanchez of Monte Vista, Sandra (Allen) Gonzales of Pueblo West, Joan Mondragon of Thornton, Judy (Steve) DeHerrera of Thornton, sons; Anthony Joe (June) Mondragon of Monte Vista, Dick (Kathy) Salaz of Firestone, CO., and son-in-law Fred DeHerrera of Monte Vista. Gloria is also survived by her sister; Dorothy Beckley of Longmont, and her brothers; Johnny Salaz of Colorado Springs, Gene (Rose) Salaz of Grand Junction, numerous grandkids, great-grandkids, great-great-grandkids, nephews, nieces, and friends.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband; Celso Mondragon, parents; Celestino and Josephine Salaz, daughters; Dolores Mondragon, Vickie DeHerrera and Celsa Swindle, sisters; Clara and MaryAnn, brothers; Lifitas, Tino, Jake and Billy, son-in-law; Robert Swindle, five grandsons and one granddaughter.

A Funeral Mass will be held on July 15, 2021, at 10:00 am. Burial ceremonies will be at Homelake Cemetery. There will not be a Vigil Service or reception after the burial.
