Great Sand Dunes waives entrance fees on Saturday for National Public Lands Day

Great Sand Dunes will not charge entrance fees on Saturday, September 22 in honor of National Public Lands Day. Camping fees for the Pinon Flats Campground will still be in effect. National Public Lands Day celebrates the connection between people and green space in their community, inspires environmental stewardship, and encourages use of open space for education, recreation, and general health. This year’s event will focus on restoration and resilience of public lands. Great Sand Dunes visitor center will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the park remains open 24 hours. Join in a ranger talk at 3:30 p.m. at the visitor center or catch the evening program at 7:30 p.m. at the outdoor amphitheater. For more information visit the park’s website at www.nps.gov/grsa or call the visitor center at 719-378-6395.
