Guided birding tour set on conserved ranch

ALAMOSA — Community members are invited to a guided birding tour on a beautiful, conserved ranch along the Rio Grande, near Alamosa, on Saturday, June 3 from 7:30-10:30 a.m. Hosted by the Rio Grande Headwaters Land Trust (RiGHT), this is a special chance to explore a private ranch along the river, with lush wetlands and abundant bird life.

Beginners are welcome and the tour will cover basics as well as give experienced birders access to a special area of rich habitat. The tour leader is wildlife biologist, birder extraordinaire, and RiGHT board member Doug Clark.  Last year’s participants identified 47 species of birds, including the Orchard Oriole and the Eastern Kingbird.

Cost is $20 and all proceeds will support RiGHT’s work to “conserve the land, water and way of life in Colorado’s San Luis Valley.”

Space is limited, so please register today: email [email protected]. More information about RiGHT’s conservation work along the Rio Grande and across the San Luis Valley is at www.riograndelandtrust.org.
