ALAMOSA — Richard Hubler presented to the Alamosa Board of County Commissioners on Wednesday with information on upcoming September event Gutted.

Nestled neatly in front of Mt. Blanca on Colorado 150, eight miles north of Colorado 160 heading east, Gutted will be attempting an ambitious crossover. Gutted will be a 5-day DIY competition that will pit three teams of social media influencers in a battle to build the best recreational vehicle. The three teams will be ‘gutting’ an RV, a van and a school bus. The event will seek to bridge the virtual world with the real world as according to promotional material, “teams will collaborate with their digital communities on renovation plans and cohesive design vision.”

The event has been billed as being filmed for broadcast but production isn’t limited to strictly filming. Tickets are being sold to the event with a full schedule of events creating a festival-style feel. As the event will be centered on the RV competition, ticket buyers are encouraged to do likewise bringing their own vehicular live-in rig and plenty of provisions to camp on-site or park on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land. Attendees will be able to view the competition as it progresses day and night with no curfew, but  it doesn’t stop there. Buyers will be getting plenty of bang for their buck. The event will be offering – a chance to meet travel influencers from social media, materials and appliances to help some upgrade and mod their rigs on the spot as there will be sponsoring vendors in attendance, morning yoga, various workshops and panels, a movie night, a bonfire as well as group tours around the San Luis Valley and much more.

The event will carried by social media platform The Jump. Relatively new, The Jump was started in 2016 and seeks to bring friends and groups closer together while performing what they feel is an “overhaul” on the existing social media scene.
