Halcyon “Hallie” Hope Ellefson Owsley

Longtime Alamosa resident Halcyon “Hallie” Hope Ellefson Owsley, 64, died February 27, 2023 at the Centura Health Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs.

Hallie was born in Tucson, Arizona, the daughter to Windsor Edmund Ellefson and Catherine Minnie Bond Ellefson. Her heritage was from a mining family and she was of Norwegian descent. She met the love of her life, Jeff Owsley, and they were united in marriage in Sonoita, Arizona on December 30, 1989, and have enjoyed 33 years of marriage together.

She earned her Master of Arts Degree and worked as a teacher, teaching across three continents for 30+ years. Hallie and her husband Jeff were missionaries for five years in Albania and Macedonia. She also taught in Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, and Cote d’Ivoire, West Africa. Hallie was a very knowledgeable person, spoke 4 languages (English, Albanian, Macedonian, French), and was full of fun facts. She was a woman of faith, and had a very welcoming, kind, and caring spirit.

Hallie is survived by her husband Jeff Owsley of Alamosa; their children Charles (Kerry Swanson) Owsley of Silt, CO, Laura Owsley of Denver, CO, and John (Matt Block) Owsley of Denver, CO; her siblings Stephen “Steve” (Cathy) Ellefson of Tucson, AZ, Christian “Chris” (Debbie) Ellefson of Tucson, AZ, Elizabeth “Betsy” Mack of Boca Raton, FL, Judith “Judy” (Dan) Most of Falcon, CO, and Albert Ellefson of Huachuca City, AZ ; as well as her parents-in-law Charles “Chuck” and Becky Owsley of Alamosa, CO, and numerous extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Richard Ellefson and Josiah Ellefson.

Cremation was chosen and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on March 18th, 2023 at 1:00 PM. Services will be held later this year in Arizona and Albania.
