Hands-on Worm Composting Workshop

ALAMOSA  -— Vermicomposting is the process of using worms to compost a mixture of decomposing vegetable or food waste. The end-product of this organic breakdown is beneficial to outdoor gardens and indoor plantings.

The Alamosa Community Greenhouse will host a worm composting workshop on Sunday, July 14 at 2 p.m., at the greenhouse, 1201 Edison Ave. in Alamosa.

Don’t wear your Sunday best! This is a hands-on workshop where Tom Wallis, community greenhouse volunteer and resident worm expert, will lead participants in the harvesting of worm castings (poop) and how to create a new worm bin.

Guests will leave with a baggie of worm casting and the knowledge to start their own vermiculture endeavors. This is a free workshop; donations to the non-profit community greenhouse will be accepted.
