Harm reduction program open

ALAMOSA — The San Luis Valley has opened its first harm reduction program opening. SHARRP (San Luis Valley Health Access Risk Reduction Project).

The program offers services for those who use injection drugs free of charge. Services include HIV and Hepatitis C testing and linkage to care, Naloxone (overdose reversal drug), sterile needles and syringes, safe needle disposal, evaluation for medical insurance eligibility and referral for mental health and substance use treatment, including medication assisted treatment.

The program is located at 2311 Commerce Circle in Alamosa and is open Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to noon only.
