Harry U. Hull

On Thursday December 23, 2021 Harry U. Hull died peacefully in his sleep at the TenderCare Nursing home in Denver Colorado. He is survived by his wife Frances Hull, his sister Bernice Covic, two daughters, Judy Vaz and husband Joe, Jo Anne Allen, her husband Ruben and two grandsons Adam and Alex.

  Harry was born in Wood Lake, Nebraska September 11, 1926. He joined the Army in 1945 and was stationed in Japan as part of the occupying forces. Upon his return he enrolled in Chadron State College in Chadron Nebraska and graduated in 1951. In 1950 he married Frances Covic whom he met at college and they both continued to work at Chadron State College until 1957. In January of 1957 Harry accepted the position of Student Union Director at Adams State College and continued in that job until his retirement in 1987. In 1988 he received the Billy Adams Award from the College for his outstanding and long-time service to the Institution.

  Of his many hobbies Harry was an avid golfer with a 5 handicap. He was involved in the city golf course for many years and mentored many young golfers. He is one of the few people in Alamosa who shot two Holes-in-one, at Cattails Golf Course. He also enjoyed fishing and jeeping in the mountains near Creede, Colorado where they had a cabin for many years.

  Harry was also a member of the Alamosa Rotary Club for over 30 years.

  Once retired they traveled to see their eldest daughter Judy, and husband who live in Vancouver, Canada and spent summer vacations in Pagosa Springs with JoAnne’s family from Denver.

 In August of this year, Harry and Frances celebrated their 71st anniversary.
