Harvey (Harv) Dean Telinde

Harvey (Harv) Dean Telinde was born in Monte Vista, Colorado on May 15, 1939 to William and Hazel Telinde.  Harv passed away on January 27, 2019 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.  He attended school in Monte Vista and graduated high school in Lamar, Colorado.  He obtained his bachelor’s degree from Adams State College and his graduate degree from Purdue University.  Harv was a college professor.  During this time, he wrote a self-paced science college program and started programs for vocational units at Colorado Mountain College.  He was also the assistant director of Mountain Valley Developmental Services. 

It was at Colorado Mountain College where he met the love of his life, Joan Chuc.  They were united in marriage on June 10, 1972.  They were blessed with four children, Tim, Matt, Nicole and Tara.  Harv’s family brought him great joy!  He enjoyed spending time with his children camping, fishing and attending rodeos.  He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow and learn around him.

Harv was very active in the community.  He was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church.  He was also a football and basketball referee in the Roaring Fork Valley for many years.  Harv served on the Garfield County Fair Board for many years and loved country music, rodeos and bull riding.    

Harv is preceded In death by his parents, William and Hazel Telinde, his brother George and one grandson.  He is survived by his wife, Joan and his children Timothy (Donna) Telinde, Matthew (Mary Anne) Telinde, Nicole (Sheldon) Rockey, and Tara (Mike) Seeman.  He is also survived by nine grandchildren, his sister Donna Heddles and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Recitation of the Rosary will be on February 4, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Stephen Catholic Church.  A Memorial Mass will be held on February 4, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen Catholic Church.
