ALAMOSA– Those attending the annual Independence Day parade in Alamosa will have an opportunity to help the victims of the Spring Fire which continues to rage east of Fort Garland. Randy Wright, executive director of the parade-sponsoring Alamosa County Chamber of Commerce, said a “fill the boot” event will coincide with the parade with proceeds going to the San Luis Valley Red Cross. All funds will remain local to assist fire victims. Additional donations will also be accepted at the chamber office in the depot. Donations will coincide with this year’s Chamber parade theme, “Independence Day the Valley Way.”
