Help honor veterans

ALAMOSA — Monday, May 29 is Memorial Day, a day set aside to honor all those who have passed away and who served in the Army, Navy, Marine Corp, Air Force or Coast Guard. Many of these veterans are buried in the Alamosa area. Each year the members of the Dickey Springer Post of the American Legion and members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars place flags on all the veterans’ graves in the Alamosa and Spanish cemeteries and would like volunteers’ help. Every veteran deserves to have a flag on his or her grave. Meet at the Alamosa Cemetery, on south State Street, on Sunday, May 28, at 1 p.m. This would be a great, patriotic project for Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts or any youth organization. Call American Legion Adjutant Jack Rudder at 719-588-9838.
