DEL NORTE — Make a Difference Day, the national day to help others, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 8 a.m. to noon with trash accepted at the SLV Regional Landfill between Monte Vista and Del Norte.

“Cost” is nonperishable food items and/or cash donations for food banks.

Clean up yards and communities and bring the trash to the SLV Regional Landfill located between Monte Vista and Del Norte. Cost is a donation of non-perishable food items (see details below). Please, no outdated food or commodities. 

All donations will be given to the Monte Vista Food Bank and will be distributed to those in need at a later date. 

Pick-up or car load; cost 12 items, single axle trailer; cost 12 items, loaded pick-up & single axle trailer; cost 24 items, double axle trailer; cost 24 items, loaded pick-up & double axle trailer; cost 36 items, dump truck

Passenger Size $1 each

Semi truck size $5.25 each

Tractor size $10.50 each

Those who do not have food items to donate, please bring a cash donation.

No commercial haulers are admitted for donation price. All loads MUST be covered or tarped. All tires must be off the rim. All freezers and refrigerators must have Freon removed. All landfill regulations will be enforced

The Baer family, which organizes the Make a Difference Day event every year, would like to know of groups or volunteer organizations who would like to complete a clean up project in conjunction with Make A Difference Day. To commit a group to help, please call 580-4307.

This is the 18th year of this particular project. The Baer family organizes this event and is proud to know they have a part in cleaning up yards, communities, roadsides and helping those in need. They are appreciative of the people who donate food, who are always generous. This event, in the past, has been the largest food donation for the Monte Vista Food Bank.
