Help plan 2019 SLV Rural Philanthropy Days

ALAMOSA – Please join the Community Resource Center and the Anschutz Family Foundation on Wednesday, August 29, for an outreach meeting to learn about the September 2019 San Luis Valley Rural Philanthropy Days conference, which serves Alamosa, Conejos, Costilla, Mineral, Rio Grande, and Saguache counties.

Rural Philanthropy Days (RPD) is a unique program that brings grantmakers into Colorado’s rural areas to discuss community needs with grantseekers and local leaders. RPD began in the early 1990s, when it was discovered that only 3-percent of the funds granted by Colorado private foundations were awarded outside the Front Range. Rural Philanthropy Days became the bridge to connect the foundations with the rural nonprofits and provide a market place for networking, building relationships and educating each other on needs and service for their region. The conference revisits the mountain region once every four years.

For 27 years, local communities have worked to coordinate Rural Philanthropy Days (RPD) in partnership with the Community Resource Center, the Anschutz Family Foundation and statewide grantmakers. The RPD program provides a powerful opportunity for the state’s most influential funders and local grantseekers to strengthen partnerships to better meet the needs of rural Colorado communities. It results in increased access to resources, relationships and skill building opportunities for important local projects.
