Homelake Museum begins summer hours; volunteers are welcome

HOMELAKE— The Homelake Museum will go to summer hours Tuesday, May 2, and museum director Sue Getz needs volunteers to help man the museum.

The museum, located on the campus of the Colorado Veterans Community Living Center at Homelake east of Monte Vista, will be open from 10 a.m. to noon and from 1-3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and by appointment until the end of October.

Volunteers are needed particularly for Friday and Saturday afternoons, Getz said.

To volunteer, call Getz at 719-580-0023.

At present the museum has a World War I exhibit on display and a number of new collections. Homelake is the official repository for all unclaimed military medals in the state of Colorado.
