The interfaith Lenten Luncheon for March 20 will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church, 607 Fourth St., Alamosa, with members of St. Thomas conducting the service and putting on the luncheon.
The luncheon will begin at noon with a brief church service conducted by Bishop’s Warden Erin Macgillivray Smith.
The Lenten luncheons are held at St. Thomas, a central location to the business district, to allow workers to take their lunch hour to attend a 15-20-minute service conducted by the church hosting the luncheon that day. They are scheduled so that participants can be free to go back to work by 1 p.m. Some services are conducted by the pastors of the churches serving the meal, others by church members. The meal, usually consisting of soup and bread with perhaps a salad and dessert, is open to everyone.
The remaining luncheon schedule follows:
*noon, March 27—LDS Church
*April 3—First United Methodist Church
*April 10—Sacred Heart Catholic Church
The luncheon is not held the week of April 14, Holy Week.
