'J' Walter Gylling

Longtime La Jara resident "J" Walter Gylling died December 21st 2021.

J was born July 11, 1937 at home in La Jara and has lived there all his life. He was raised in Mesa, AZ. His father O.W. Gylling,his mother Arzella Knight. He married Jane Warwick 5 June 1962 and they would celebrate 60 years this June. 
J was a farmer and also put up steel buildings. He built the La Jara Library , the Sanford feedlot and numerous garages, grain bins and other steel structures all over the valley. 
He served in the LDS Church in the High Council, Ward Bishopric and Scoutmaster for over 20 years. He also served in the Scouting district. He earned his Silver Beaver and many others awards.
He loved playing softball and basketball and loved to watch his children. His youngest is a 4 time All American in Track. 
He helped in the local voting booth.
J served in the army as Second Lieutenant and later in the national guard.
He loved to fish and go to the cabin. He had a "Bear Cat" and loved to hear the kids scream as he rode through the river.
J is survived by his wife Jane. His children: Dwayne and Trudie of Sanford, Kassie and Derek Mortensen of Fruita, John and James in California, Mark in Center, Amanda and Dustin Doyle of Fruita.
Grandchildren: Chelsea, Melody, Timothy, 
Kayla (Matt), Dillon, Devin and Karissa 
Tate, Jenson, Kezly, Kadence, Stetson and Braxton
Stratton and Sheridan Doyle

He was preceded in death by his parents O.W. and Arzella Gylling, In laws W.R and Emily Warwick. Siblings: Dorthy, Dona, Lola, Lena, Garda, Viola, Clara, Gladys, Luella, Norma, Brothers Bill and Helmer.
A graveside service was chosen by J: Thursday 23 Dec @ 11:00 at the Sanford Cemetery. 
 We thank all the people who knew J for their loving thoughts, food, visits, phone calls, and thoughtful acts shown to him and his family. He will be missed.
