Jack was a long time resident of Monte Vista.
He joined the U.S. Navy in 1943 just before his eighteenth birthday. Jack was stationed on the
U.S.S. Cumberland Sound traveling through the South Pacific to Japan, entering Tokyo Bay to accept
the surrender and occupation of that country.
Jack returned to the San Luis Valley where he owned and operated ABC Sign Service. Many of his signs were seen for decades throughout the valley. He also worked concurrently for the Rural Electric Cooperative (REC) as a draftsman, secretary and manager for many years.
He is survived by his sister JoAnn Titmarsh and his four children, Barbara Harris, John Boutwell,
Juanita Boutwell and Jay Boutwell as well as his dear friend Charlotte Sheely.
