Jeannette Tomlinson, 101

Jeannette Tomlinson, 101 years young, was welcomed home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 7th in Del Norte. She was born in Ryan, Oklahoma on October 16, 1916 to John and Alma Williams. As a teenager, her family moved to Del Norte where she met and married Ivan September of 1933 whom preceded her in death on July 22, 1983.

Jeannette was also preceded in death by her parents, son John, daughter Janice Hamilton, grandson Neil Tomlinson, sister Doretta, son-in-law Gilbert Smith and many other family members and friends.

Jeannette loved being a wife and mother, but most of all she loved serving the Lord with her talent for music and teaching Sunday School. As a teenager she helped with the founding of Assembly of God churches in both Del Norte and Alamosa. No matter where she lived she was always very involved in serving the Lord. She loved baking and her cookies were much appreciated by her grandchildren and at Wednesday night bible studies.

After raising her four children she worked 18 years as a nursing assistant for the surgery department at the Rio Grande Hospital in Del Norte where she touched many lives with love and compassion. She was a relentless prayer warrior for her family and many friends her entire life.

Jeannette is survived by her sons David (Ruth) and Phillip (Elaine) Tomlinson and daughter Jacquie Smith, plus 15 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 22 great great grandchildren.

Her going home celebration will be Tuesday at 10 am at New Life Fellowship (formerly Del Norte Assembly of God – the very same church she helped found) in Del Norte.
