Longtime Alamosa resident Jerry “Reedo” Reed, 69, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017 at the Penrose St. Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs. 

Jerry was born in Clayton, New Mexico the first son to George R. and Edith Dale Reed on September 21, 1947.

Jerry worked for the Alamosa School District for almost 30 years.  After his retirement from Teaching he filled in as a Sub-Teacher.  Jerry loved kids and taught thousands throughout the years.  Teaching and nurturing the students was his life’s work.  He loved travelling all around, especially overseas trips.  In his spare time, he played chess, enjoyed crossword puzzles and spent many hours reading and writing.

Jerry is survived by his step-mother Connie Reed of Cochiti, NM; his brothers and sisters Jim (Jennifer Gutierrez) Reed of Corrales, New Mexico, Annie (Kyle) Medders and Kenny (Tiffany) Reed, both of Rio Rancho, NM, and Judy (Jack) McGowan of Santa Fe, NM; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends and school family.

He is preceded in death by his parents George and Edith, his brother Johnny Reed and his nephew Ben Medders.

Cremation was chosen and a Celebration of Life Gathering will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the Alamosa High School Football Field, in which he was so instrumental in working for. Make sure and wear your Mean Moose and Colorado Rockies colors for the service!
