Jodie Ann Jones Cyrus

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the death of Jodie Ann Jones Cyrus, 57, a lifelong resident of the Valley who passed away on November 18th, 2021, in Alamosa, Colorado. She was born September 7th 1964 to Jerry and Delores Jones. Jodie was their first child and a sister to three brothers, Gerald, James and John.

Jodie was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter-Day Saints on October 7th, 1972 and was a faithful and active member until she was called home. She attended and graduated from Alamosa High School in 1982. She worked for many years in the jewelry store “Jones Jewelry” owned by her parents. She met her future husband Michael Cyrus while working in the family store and they married on June 18, 1993. They resided in a loving home west of La Jara, Colorado where she lived until her death.

In life, Jodie was kind with a bubbly personality. Jodie always had a smile for everyone she greeted and a willing heart to help others in need. Her favorite passion was cooking and canning food with her mother. A family favorite was her homemade chocolate chip cookies which you also found on her kitchen table for all to enjoy. She was an avid traveler with her husband Mike. They explored many countries around the world and experienced a variety of different dining venues that they both loved, especially seafood.

Jodi’s love and spirituality was a blessing to all her family and friends during her life. She will be lovingly missed. We will forever cherish our memories of her and her husband Mike.

She is survived by her Step Daughters: Marissa Cyrus and Andrea Cyrus-Medina. Grandchildren: Caroline and Lukas (Cyrus) Snider. Step-Father: Leonard Ford, Brother: John Jones (Katrina), Uncle: Wendell Brown and Robert Jones. Aunts: Phyllis Hoyt, Sharon Engelhardt and MaryAnn Brown. 4 nephews, 7 nieces, 5 grandnephews and 2 grandnieces and many dear cousins.

She is preceded in death by her husband Michael Cyrus. Parents: Jerry and Delores Jones. Brothers: Gerald and James Jones. Niece Jacqueline Jones. Grandniece: Mia Cuba. Grandparents: Robert and Maybelle Jones; Harold and Irene Brown. Uncle: James Russell Brown. Aunt: Lynda Sue McCoy.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa on Friday November 26, 2021 with a funeral service being held Saturday November 27th at 11:00 in the LDS Church located at 716 Broadway St, La Jara, CO Internment will be at the Sanford Cemetery in Sanford, Colorado.
