Jose (Carmona) Torres

VALLEY — Long time San Luis Valley resident Jose (Carmona) Torres, 62, passed away at the San Luis Valley Health Regional Medical Center on May 8, 2019. Jose was born to Antonio and Flora Torres on May 13, 1955 in Las Ranas, Mexico.  He married the love of his life, Emma Maria Cervantez in 1977 and made his permanent immigration to America at that point.

Jose loved being outside, and enjoying all it had to offer.  Spending time at rivers and lakes, and in the mountains was among his favorite things to do.  It wasn’t uncommon to find him out picking pinon with his family and grandkids making fantastic memories.  He was a lover of all animals and they would bring a smile to his face spending time among them and watching them grow. Jose also had a love for gardening, he enjoyed spending his days working the soil and waiting for his vegetables to grow and feed his friends and family.  Although Jose loved all those things; they pale in comparison to love he had for his wife, his children, his grandchildren, his siblings, and all those he cared about.  He was a great man and will leave a mark on those he loved for years to come.

Jose is survived by his loving wife of the family home in Capulin, Emma Torres. Also surviving is: his children, Joe (Jackie) Torres of Capulin, and Julie Ziach of Colorado Springs; his grandchildren Donovan Jaramillo, Brandon Torres, Lucas Ziach and Antoni Ziach; and his siblings Concepcion Torres, Francisco Torres, Catalina Torres, Guadalupe Torres and Consuelo Torres.  As well as numerous other nieces, nephews, extended family members, and members of the Cervantez family.
