Center resident Jose “Flaco” Miera, 74, passed away October 26, 2017 at the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center with his loving family by his side. Jose was born on July 15, 1943 in Amalia, New Mexico, the son of Alfonso Miera and Eleanor Duran Miera. He was united in marriage to Marvine Arellano on July 31, 1976. Jose was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who enjoyed going hunting, fishing and camping. Jose was also skilled at doing upholstery. His greatest joy in life was the time he was able to spend with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed!

Survivors include his wife Marvine Miera of Center, CO; children Kathy Fernandez, Shirley Fernandez both of Idaho, Lisa Lopez (Brian Guy) of Denver, CO; Dickie Lopez of Center, CO; grandchildren Jonathan (Angel) Lopez of Monte Vista, CO; Joel (Misty) Lopez of Pueblo, CO; sisters Carmen Castillo of Pueblo, CO; Eleanor (Bobby) Martinez of Nevada, brother Felix Miera of Pueblo, CO; brother-in-laws Eloy (Bernadette) Arellano of Center, CO; Larry (Penny) Arellano of Pueblo, CO; Brian Arellano of Center, CO. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Jose was preceded in death by his parents Alfonso and Eleanor Miera, and brother Alfonso Miera Jr.

Cremation was chosen and services will be held at a later date. The care of arrangements have been entrusted to Romero Funeral Home of Monte Vista.
