Jose J Martinez, 31

Jose J Martinez, 31 better known as “Jozey” or “Jozey Whales” passed away September 9, 2017. Jose was born on March 24, 1986 to his parents Isabel Martinez and Margarito Romero. A lifetime resident of Del Norte, Colorado Jose was known by all, loved by many and probably hated by few. Jose had two older sisters, Toni (Arnold) Martinez and Yolanda (Amber) Martinez and a younger brother Victor (Amanda) Martinez.

Jose left behind his beloved wife of 14 years Nineah and his four beautiful sons; Jose (12), Nethanyel (10), Diego (7) and Aurelius (1). Jose took great pride in his family teaching his boys to be respectful, well mannered, humble and kind people but not to let judgmental people hold them back, that they can be or do anything they want. He absolutely enjoyed spending every free minute, second with his family going above and beyond his duties of a husband and dad.

After being diagnosed in May with late stage cancer, knowing that beating or even controlling the cancer was a slim chance, he took that chance at life and fought back with everything that he had. The cancer may have taken his young life but it will never take him from all that knew him. He touched a great deal of people during his tenure at the Windsor Hotel and cemented a lasting impression on all that he met. He inspired joy when he spoke of his family, evoked laughter with a simple sentence, a silly freestyle rap while listening to music, his crazy jokes (often inappropriate) and we can’t forget his clever one-liners. Jose was just one of a kind, a great man, husband, dad, brother, son, uncle, “nino,” cousin, and friend. He was just a beautiful soul that was so humble and kind and will be greatly missed. Though he will never know the reach he had, we will never forget. He will live on through the people that loved him. We love you always and forever.

A memorial service will be held at the Windsor Hotel on Friday, September 15th at 11 AM, the family suggests making donations to https://www.gofundme.com/joserecoveryfund.
