Joseph “Joe” Walter Langston, 68

Alamosa and La Junta resident Joseph “Joe” Walter Langston, 68, died at his home in Alamosa on March 31, 2017.

Joe was born in Livingston, Montana the son of Joseph Leonard and Serena Belle Collins Langston.  He married Iris Pauline Walker on March 6, 1975, they were married for 42 years.

Joe was self-taught and worked in many different positions including Dry Waller, in the construction industry as an estimator, and travelled all over the United States helping struggling Dairy’s with their breeding and fiscal programs.  He most recently was working with and assisting his daughter with her cleaning business Clean as a Whistle. 

Joe loved politics, was an avid sports fan and especially liked watching football.  In his earlier years he was a basketball and volleyball player and enjoyed bowling.  Anyone who knew Joe appreciated his quick wit and good sense of humor.  He loved to make people laugh.  Joe also gave much of his time helping others and lending a hand wherever needed. 

He is survived by his wife Iris Langston of the family home in Alamosa; his children Brett (Nicole) Langston of La Grange, OH, Cari Langston of Savannah, GA, Tisha (Bobby) Cake of Flagstaff, AZ, Brian Jason Langston of Buckley, WA and Lindsay Jo (Mike) Achatz of Alamosa; his grandchildren: Justin and Jasin Hurst, Holly and Adam Langston, Charlee and Jacee Cake, Aurora Davila, Xavier, Caseabella and Aven Fye; his brother Stanley Levoy Langston of Las Cruces, NM; as well as his special cousins Jolene Pavlovsky and Tom Pavlovsky; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents.
