Our beloved mother, Juana Sebastian went home to heaven on December 23, 2020, at age 88. She passed away in Alamosa, CO where she and her late husband Pedro Francisco Diego planted their roots after their arrival from Guatemala in 1983, being the first Guatemalans to settle in the San Luis Valley.
She was a leader to her family and the Mayan community in Alamosa. The heart of our family will now be laid to rest with her beloved husband.
We will remember Juana for being a hard worker, and a woman of courage and strength. She will be remembered for her resilience. Juana enjoyed her favorite hobbies including pottery, watching wrestling and gardening. She had a passion for her family and the Guatemalan, Mayan community.
Through her devotion to her Catholic faith, she always showed great kindness to others. Her faith never wavered.
She is survived by one sister, five beloved sons, several grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
Amidst losing our loved one, there is always room to grow and honor her in her memory.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa.
