Mosca resident Judy Lynn Kretche, 78, passed away on Feb. 27, 2024, at the San Luis Care Center surrounded by her loving daughter and son-in-law. Judy’s life began Aug. 1, 1945, in LaCrosse, Wis., born to Leonard Manning and Mildred Roth. Judy was a cherished daughter, wife, mother, and friend whose warmth touched all who knew her.

A proud graduate of Ottero Junior College in La Junta, Colo., Judy's dedication to helping others shined brightly as she earned her Licensed Practitioner Nurse (LPN) certificate. Her commitment to the field of nursing was not only a professional calling but also a personal journey that she shared with her beloved daughter, Victoria (Matthew) Kretche-Kitchel of Blanca, Colo. The mother-daughter duo celebrated their unique bond by attending nursing school together, an accomplishment that was especially dear to them both.

Judy's hands were rarely still, as she found joy and solace in crafts, knitting, crocheting, and quilting. Her creative gifts were as boundless as her love for her little dogs, who were her constant companions. Judy enjoyed the great outdoors and camping.

Judy's life was a testament to the virtues of kindness and exploration. Her legacy of love and the memories she created will be treasured by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Those cherished family members that preceded her in death are both of her parents Leonard and Mildred; her uncle Jerry Roth of Altus, Okla.; her uncle Junior “Frank” Roth of Colorado and her grandmother Bertha Roth of La Cross, Wis.; and her husband Ronald Kretche of Rocky Ford, Colo.

Cremation has been chosen.
