The Alamosa K-5 summer school program wrapped up Wednesday night with a community celebration of food and beverage provided by Linda Jalisco restaurant and entertainment by some of the summer school students who danced for their families and friends. According to Alfonso Castillo, Alamosa Elementary School K5 summer school principal, about 95 students attended summer school where they focused on core subjects plus other learning activities. Recommendation from the student’s teacher was a requirement to be enrolled. Wednesday night also marked the end of the time that visiting teacher, Selene Paque Diaz, an elementary school teacher from Tabasco, Mexico, was in Alamosa. A second teacher, Thalia Juarez from San Luis Potosi, also participated in the binational teacher exchange program but was sick and unable to attend Wednesday night’s festivities.
