Karen Elise Sheeley

Karen Elise Sheeley (nee Frad), passed away on October 31, 2022, in Sparks, Nevada. Karen was born on October 15, 1955, in Waukegan, Illinois, the middle of five surviving children of LaVergne and Clyde Frad. An older brother died in infancy.

A couple years after graduating from Antioch Community High School Karen headed West where she would spend her time between Phoenix, Arizona and Denver, Colorado, making a living doing clerical jobs and as a bartender/bar manager while making lifelong friends and memories.

In 1993 Karen married Steve Sheeley in Phoenix and spent the next 29 years enjoying golf, sporting events, camping, fishing and mostly the grandchildren. Karen retired from Frito-Lay in 2014 as a Senior Finance Manager after almost 25 years with the company. Steve & Karen also

spent some time in the San Luis Valley of southern Colorado, where Karen managed the Monte Vista Chamber of Commerce and later was an advertising rep for the Valley Courier.

Karen is survived by her husband of 29 years, Steven Sheeley, step-children Leon (Cee Cee), Melanie (Sam Brown), and grandchildren Haleigh, Tyson, Cimara and Aithen. Karen was preceded in death by her younger sister, Sandy (Pete) McCormick, and an older sister, Cheryl. She is survived by her sister Linda (Inky) Curran and brother Geary Frad, as well as five nieces and nephews and a grand niece.

Per her wishes, a simple cremation has been selected and there will be no formal service.
