La Puente opens its arms to the San Luis Valley community

The approximate tally was 230 in attendance, so meals taken to people’s homes and an unknown number of ones delivered to unsheltered people lining up outside. La Puente prepared food dishes for over 50 households from around the Valley and brought them to the Home. Dozens of community volunteers helped us set up, worked the kitchen, served and waited tables, as well as put the Home back together. All walks of life celebrated the holiday together and enjoyed music, friendship and the best array of traditional Thanksgiving food anywhere. Fortunately, there were enough leftovers to provide many more meals throughout the weekend, a great assistance to the volunteers working the larger holiday.
