La Puente receives $12,695 donation

ALAMOSA — Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) is donating $12,695 to La Puente, a leading nonprofit human service provider in southern Colorado, helping over 16,000 people annually.

The donation was the result of Like It Forward, CHFA’s annual Corporate Giving social media campaign. Over the course of three weeks, CHFA invited the public to visit CHFA’s social media channels to like and share posts featuring information and stories about La Puente’s impact in Alamosa and the San Luis Valley. For each like and share the posts received, CHFA donated $5 to La Puente.

The $12,695 donation will help La Puente in their work to address poverty and homelessness in the San Luis Valley. La Puente offers a 45-bed shelter, serving over 55,000 hot meals a year, working with a network of 15 food banks, offering clothes and home goods, and providing other services such as homeless prevention, childcare, education, and a community gardening program.

It is a great reminder of how when communities work together, it creates the opportunity for amazing stories of compassion and action. Thank you to everyone who liked and shared to show your support for the work La Puente does to meet immediate needs and to empower people to live independently with dignity,” said Lance Cheslock, La Puente executive director.

Like It Forward 2019 marks CHFA’s fifth annual social media giving campaign of its kind. The campaign was promoted from November 18 through December 6 on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, CHFA’s website, and in various CHFA communications.
