Lady Moose ninth, Lady Pirates 11th at Pueblo County

ALAMOSA – Both of the local high school girls golf teams were in action on Friday.

Pueblo County Invitational

Both Alamosa and Monte Vista high schools participated in the Pueblo County Hornet Invitational at Hollydot Golf Course in Colorado City.

The Lady Mean Moose finished in ninth place with 310. They were led by Jayla Quintana and Paloma Zahringer who both tied for 30th place with a 102. Addison Rice placed 37th with a 106, and Sydney Mason tied for 48th with a 119.

The Lady Pirates were 11th with 313. Brooke Hoffstaetter was the leader as she tied for 24th with a 100, followed by Reagan Futrell who was 33rd with a 103, Kiera Sanchez who was 40th with a 110, and Evie Hinds who was 57th with a 129.

Rye won the tournament with 246, followed by Pueblo west with 250.

Pueblo Central’s Sofia Contreras was the medalist with a 76.

Gunnison Invitational canceled

Both Alamosa and Monte Vista were scheduled to compete at the Gunnison Invitational Monday at Dos Rios Golf Club. However, the tournament was canceled because of poor weather.

This week

The teams will conclude the regular season over the next few days. They will be at the Monte Vista Invitational Tuesday at the Monte Vista Golf Course, and they will participate in the Alamosa Invitational Wednesday at Cattails Golf Course. Alamosa will return to Hollydot on Friday for the Rye Invitational.

The Class 3A Region 1 Tournament in May 14 at Cattails.
