Larson running for Alamosa coroner

ALAMOSA — Alamosa County resident and life-long San Luis Valley resident Trace Larson has announced his candidacy for Alamosa County Coroner.

Larson is a Valley native being born and raised in Sanford. He has lived in Alamosa for nearly four years and will be celebrating his first anniversary with his wife, Shawna, this year.

Larson began working at Rogers Family Mortuary in the summer of 2014. During his time there he was given the rare opportunity to work alongside the current County Coroner Kevin Rogers, his deputy coroners, as well as the Rio Grande County Coroner Stephen Hunzeker. The knowledge he has obtained while working with these men, as well as serving the community as a funeral director will be invaluable if he is given the opportunity to serve this community as coroner.

Larson also worked for the County of Alamosa as a Civilian Technician at the Alamosa County Detention Center for nearly four years. During his time there he was able to move through the ranks and before moving his life in a different direction was given the opportunity to act as a Field Training Officer, training new employees and deputies on the inner workings of the detention center, as well as being the supervising officer on duty on many occasions. While working at the Detention Center, Larson worked side by side with our local law enforcement agencies and in doing so created many lasting relationships with many officers who still serve our community today.

Knowing all the work, care, and time Kevin Rogers has put into making the Alamosa County Coroner’s Office run effectively and efficiently Larson states, “I know this won’t be easy, but I do know that I have the work ethic, skills, and drive to keep the coroner’s office running smoothly in the right direction.  I’m excited to have the opportunity to finally give back to this community that has offered me so many opportunities throughout my life.”
