ALAMOSA — Alamosa High School’s Sam Laske is ready for competition under the bright lights of Las Vegas, Nevada.
The 15-year-old Alamosa native will be riding bulls at the Junior World Finals from Thursday-Sunday.
Laske has been riding bulls since the age of 8. His first ride was at the Manassa Pioneer Days in the calf riding competition.
Since that time, he has gone on to ride at numerous events, including locally at the Burris and Sons Bucking Bulls Inc., Series, and regionally through the Leal’s Junior Bull Riding Championship Series.
He qualified for the Finals by placing as one of the top four finishers in the Leal’s Series for the Colorado/New Mexico region.
He will spend one week in Las Vegas and will face approximately 700 riders from across the nation, as well as Australia, Canada, and Brazil.
Following his time in Las Vegas, Laske plans to continue riding as long as possible.
His overall goal is to become a professional bull rider.
