Learn about a whole food plant based diet on August 5

ALAMOSA — Going vegan is now a real trend all around the globe and residents here in the San Luis Valley are part of this growing movement. Anyone who is curious, hopeful, or desperate about their health situation is invited to join the next SLV Plant Wise monthly potluck on Sunday, August 5th in Alamosa.

Some of the group are vegans, most are exploring the idea and all of love to eat healthy food! The group usually watches a video and enjoys some delicious vegan food. Many bring along a recipe to share but not all. The goal is make this a fun and educational experience with a minimum of fuss.

This group advocates a whole food plant based diet. “We are not fanatics, we know everyone is on their own journey. We offer no judgment, only encouragement and lots of information. Even if you still eat meat but are curious about this lifestyle, come join us and see where it might lead,” organizers said.

The next potluck is Sunday, August 5th from 3-5 p.m. at the Seventh-day Adventist Church at the corner of Clark and Craft Drives in Alamosa (the red brick church just north of Burger King on Craft Drive.)

Please bring a vegan dish (no animal products and no or minimal oil), or just come  - there is always plenty of food.

The group will start with the potluck, and then watch the film “Plant Pure Nation.” All are welcome.
