Legion celebrates birthday 99

ALAMOSA — The members of the Dickey-Springer Post 113 of the American Legion invite Legion members and guests to the celebration of the 99th birthday of the national organization.

A potluck dinner is planned on Saturday, March 17, in the Legion Hall. There will be a cocktail hour from 5-6 with dinner at 6 p.m. The American Legion Auxiliary will provide the birthday cake. Patty Robertson, retired Air Force Lt. Colonel, will be the guest speaker.

Bring a favorite potluck dish to share. The American Legion is the largest wartime veterans’ service organization with 2.4 million members in nearly 14,000 posts in nearly every community in America. The Legion, established by an act of Congress in 1919, was instrumental in getting the original GI Bill passed through Congress and the creation of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
